Making power cuts easier to understand

When the electricity goes off, finding out what's happening shouldn't be complicated. Different companies look after electricity networks across the UK, and information about power cuts can be spread across several websites.

We bring it all together. outages.uk gives you one place to check for power cuts, see how many people are affected and find out when electricity is expected to return — refreshed every 10 minutes.

outages.uk is an independent information service. outages.uk is not affiliated with any Distribution Network Operator (DNO), the Energy Networks Association, or the 105 service. Each power cut shown here links back to its originating operator, and restoration times are that operator's own estimate, not a guarantee — they may change as repairs progress.

If your power is off right now, the fastest way to report it or get an update is to call 105, free, any time.

Which networks we cover

We report live data from all six Great Britain electricity distribution network operators — UK Power Networks, National Grid Electricity Distribution, Northern Powergrid, SP Energy Networks, Electricity North West, and Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks — plus NIE Networks in Northern Ireland.

We also don't cover Independent Distribution Network Operators (iDNOs) — smaller operators that maintain the network for specific developments, business parks, or new housing estates, rather than a whole region.
